instead, i have been watching 10cc videos on youtube.
damn, 10cc were good.

must. write. screeplay.
the dumbest shit is that i will write, sleep, wake up, wrte again, and i have SO much hw, and it takes me all day to write 5 pages. but if i fall off schedule, i am fucked. and i really do want this more than anything. must remember that.

procrastination, you know no bounds.

I can now say that i have effectively extracted and consumed every single cashew and toffee bit from a tub of caramel toffee cashew pralines ice cream.

and as for my 3 pages? thus far, unwritten!

Don't say you love me when it's just a rumour
Don't say a word if there is any doubt.
Sometimes I think that love is just a tumour;
you've got to cut it out.

You say you're sorry for the things that you've done.
You say you're sorry but you know you don't mean it.
I wouldn't worry. I had so much fun.
Sometimes I almost feel just like a human being

Get to the slot machine almost dead on arrival
Just hit me one more time with that live wire
Maybe they told you you were only a girl in a million
You say I've got no feelings;
this is a good way to kill them.

Select the control and then insert the token
You wanna throw me away but I'm not broken.
You've got a lot to say. Well I'm not joking.
There are some words they don't allow to be spoken.
Sometimes I almost feel just like a human being

okay so:
last nite we won best student doc at the niagara indie film fest!
it was a fucking shlep going out to st catharines for 7 hours, but man, it was worth it.
there were some really great films. If you ever get a chance to check out one called The Ecstacy Note, you've gotta do it. Another one was called Timbre.. fantastic. Both of these films came outta Quebec, and were very very impressive. Another thing that i was really glad to see: there were maybe.. 3 films by women in the fest, including mine. Timbre was directed by a lady, and then there was an indie doc ( not from the student category) about women from WWII, directed by a charming woman from Vancouver. Anyway, my point is that with so few women in the game, i was so proud that we all won in our categories. It isn't that i wanted the boys to lose... but it's about time we started having some women make some serious films, and I'm really proud that I was there, and a part of that. I also did not think that we'd win at all. at all. I didn't see all the docs, and there was some serious buzz around this one doc about snowboarding that was shot partly on film. I was stressin pretty hard, mostly because of how far the drive would have been, just to lose, and i spent the whole afternoon and evening psyching myself up for the moment when they announced the winner, and it wasnt our film.

So, down I sat ( i forgot to mention that my adorable dad came with! my mom did too, but only coz my dad did. but my dad said that he really wanted to be there and insisted that he drive me up there and come to my screening and sit thru the awards.. what a guy. it meant so much to me to have him there). Anyway, I sat down and they had put together a highlights reel for each category. So they'd announce the category, and show some highlights, and call the winner. With each winner they called, i became more and more sure that we'd lose.I kept saying to myself " and the winner is...the snowboarding film!", just to get used to that, to accept that. So when they called our film as the winner, they thought that I wasnt there, coz i really couldnt believe it.. so i just sat there on my chair. Finally the person beside me was like.. you need to go up there.. so i did.. i had to give an acceptance speech, which i had completely not prepared for, so i garbled something about hoping people liked it and then announced that next year my new film is coming out and gloriously declared the title to be canadian anus! and in some weird sonic blur everyone laughed. I had all the eloquence of a drunk, underwater walrus, and stumbled away from the podium like a total goon, gave my folks a big ol hug, sat down, and waited for my heart to stop pounding. .. which it did not for at least 2 hours.

Anyway, it was good experience. Especially after Fairy-Tale Ending, which I havent really sent out anywhere, but which i doubt i will, coz it wasnt really my best work. So it was nice to be back in it....maybe i will send one mans how out to a few more places, but i feel like ive gotta get a new film out there that's longer and differentm, you know. One Man Show was made just about two years ago, and while it was largely a great experence, barring josh's attack of the grumps nearly destroyng the whole production, and the fact that id never made a doc before letting me makle all kinds of directorial goofs, it is time to move on. I am really excited about my new doc, especially coz of the great team i've got. I am so effin excited to have Dan on board as editor. There aint nobody i'd rather have.. the guy is a high quality editor, and knows how to get the job done. Some editors, you gotta fight with their egos, and they think that the editing is about THEIR vision, as editors. With dan, he just has this amazing ability to work his vision into your vision, so that your film stays the way you want it, but with this sheen and gloss that he puts on it when he puts it together. I could go on, but he is the only editor i want, and i am thrilled that we are working together again.

OKAY.
coudl go on but its so early.

St. Catharines was a pretty depresisng town in that its so small and well.. depressing. But i went to the chapters there in between my screening and the pre-party for the evening screenings, and bought a book about eating raw foods. I am pretty psyched to start doing some of that. I have to get my nutrition in order.

Oh, one more thought: shmoozing. man, how that is not my thing. I am all for a good conversation. At work, alllll i do is strike them up with people i dont know. But it is a totally different feeling when you're at one of these things. like.. what the fuck do you do, walk up to someone and say HI, WHAT FILM DID YOU MAKE? Actually, that probably is what you do, but i found it a lot harder than it sounds. I dont know what it is... maybe the fact that it seems totally egomaniacal to go on about yourself, or totally boring to listen to some guy go on and on and on about his film that you havent seen, or maybe it was coz everyone was wearing these nerdy stickers with their name and their film title on it ( mine ' fell off and got lost.. oops) and was enthusiastically eating the free meatballs and drinking beer.. iman, i dont know what it was, but its just.. how do you start those converastions????? I gooned out pretty hard as far as that's concerned, and went for a walk outside so i didnt have to shmooze or figure out how to do that shit.

OKAY.
now that is all.

Did they ever give you a reason
To believe in something different
If you’re looking for love, for what’s worth
I have plenty of it lying around here
If you are looking for disappointment
You can find it around any corner
In the middle of the night I hold on to you tight
So both of us can be protected

Tell me where it hurts,
to hell with everybody else.
All I care about is you and that’s the truth
they don’t love me
yeah I can tell
but you do,
so they can go to hell
